Even though it is a part of Pahang, due to its location
Pulau Tioman is not able to reap the benefits of the TELL2 project. So, we
decided to bring the program to them!
Nine Brighton mentors (including the ELC from Pekan) and some management
staff arrived on the island to facilitate English camps at SK Tekek on April 13th
and SK Juara on April 14th.
The camps were themed around the tale of Little Red Riding
Hood, and every pupil took part in reading, writing, art and drama classes.
Teachers from Tekek and Juara were present in each class, and later took part
in a questionnaire to review the tips and skills they had observed, and to
think about how they could apply the activities in their own classrooms.
I’m happy to say that both camps were a great success! There
were activities to cater to all English levels, so every pupil was able to
participate and have fun. The Brighton staff were warmly welcomed by all the
teachers. Hopefully we can be back there again soon!
